| Welcome |
| The South Brighton SLSC was formed in 1929 with the objective of patrolling the beach to ensure the safety of swimmers. Eighty years on we have grown into one of Canterbury's most successful sporting organisations. Boasting an exceptional patrol and competition record, the club has won over 200 National titles since its inception and has been Canterbury's top club for the last decade as well as winning New Zealand's top club award for five seasons in a row- a competitive record unmatched by any other New Zealand club. Our active members still maintain voluntary patrols at the South Brighton beach during the summer season with safety of the swimmers our number one priority. We have over 200 active and social members ranging in age from five years right through to those in their late eighties. |

| Club Aims & Objectives |
| The club's overall aim is to provide members with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of surf life saving activities in a supportive and progressive environment. The club has several goals and visions that drive this. They are: * Strive for excellence in everything we do. * Provide appropriate programmes for all ability levels within the club. * Establish an environment where all members can be involved in the functions of the club. * Support members in their pursuit of lifeguarding or competition goals. * Recognise the value that every participant has in the overall success of the club. Through the achievement of these goals we believe that the club will continue to grow whilst providing members with the ability to grow and achieve their personal goals. |

| What do we offer our members? |
The focal point of the club's activities are our club rooms on the main beach at South Brighton. We have a spacious upstairs area with a large hall, kitchen, bar and meeting room as well as ground floor areas for equipment storage, showers and amenities. Membership entitlements include open access to these facilities, the use of rescue equipment and some of the country's best coaching. Everyone from the beginner lifeguard to the elite athlete is catered for in programmes ranging from Sunday morning skill development session for our junior surf members, to the very successful school holiday programme and season round athlete programme. Socially we are also very active with post carnival BBQ's, tavern times, theme parties and club prize giving and dinner. |
